Kids enjoyed it. It supports information they had learned in school. They particularly liked how it showed how gold was found. They loved the humor, especially when Jones was in the line of prospectors who couldn't move and commented, "Hurry up already, I don't have all winter."
Fun and educational. Very informative with interesting skits and examples intercut into the body of the video which keeps the audience engaged. It's well-rounded and tells both the positive and negative side of the California Gold Rush. Filled with trivia and pop quizzes. Well structured, good animation and appropriate for this audience. It touches on how greed became a major catalyst in the gold rush, touches on racism, brings up how Native Americans lost their land and lives because of it. It also makes us realize there are things more precious than gold such as preserving and admiring nature. Good production quality. It makes learning history fun. It brings up issues that make us appreciate how difficult it was for people to travel across the country in search of gold and which routes people took to get there. This film presents a lot of information but never gets to be overwhelming. The information presented is very accurate and encourages children to think, reason, question and experiments. It teaches many concepts and facts needed for history studies in school.
