Loved it, especially when Tugger wanted to fly. They loved when Tugger was flying inside the old plane and also when he was dreaming he was flying. It was fun for the kids to watch. Kids didn't understand portions of it, such as references to the Thunderbirds and World War II. They did enjoy watching Tugger try to fly. "Tugger was a jeep that wanted to fly but he didn't have any wings."
Although it appears to be a young child's title, the story is captivating and entertaining to both adults and children. It also provides a strong moral lesson about valuing one's self and standing up for friendship without seeming too heavy. It has great production levels and content that emphasizes the values of friendship and loyalty. Even our adult jurors enjoyed learning a bit about history through the fun storyline. Cute characters, historical content and entertaining storyline all contribute to a positive experience. It teaches about different vehicles used in wars of the past but also demonstrates how airports work and touches on emotional issues that kids can identify with such as friendship and feeling left out. The characters treat one another nicely, even when they didn't get along and got frustrated with one another. When the radio was harsh with Tugger, he came back later and apologizes. The narration explains parts of the scenes to the viewer, defining parts of history about how vehicles are used and what they are called. It's a great way to increase kids vocabulary without being condescending. The computer generated imagery is bold and simple. Quite impressive!
"Tugger," starring the voices of Jim Belushi and Carrot Top, is the inspiring tale of a Jeep® 4x4 who, after being injured while serving his country during World War II, has his engine fan replaced by a real airplane propeller. After being sold as war surplus, Tugger spends his time towing airplanes at a local airfield. But Tugger is convinced that his destiny is to one day fly like a real airplane. How will he ever overcome the overwhelming obstacles he faces so he can realize his dream?
