All the kids except for the baby waved hello and goodbye to Jack and the ball. The older kids repeated the words such as dog, rain, ball and water. The baby did watch the bouncing balls or the movement of things across the front of the screen. One five-year-old who is attention deficit and usually doesn't watch anything from beginning to end was quite interested in watching a second time. Another five-year-old asked why Jack kept going away. Two kids both picked it out the next day to watch it again. A few scenes are slow and at the end, most lost interest in it. Overall, the kids enjoyed following the ball and Jack. They really liked the real scenes of animals, trains, etc.
Very enjoyable, great background scenery. Seeing all the animals in their natural habitat is a plus. Jack's name is repeated often enough to keep kids looking for him. The jack in the box is good and its movement helps hold the kids' attention. Good way to teach colors and words. It could be a good learning tool for history with older kids. The language is very age-appropriate and easy to follow. Good repetition that is not annoying. The storyline of going from one side of the country to another is cute and shows us examples of geographical significance such as the Grand Canyon, the sunflowers in Kansas. Those jurors from Kansas loved that their state song, "Home on the Range" is used. The music is well done throughout.
In the second episode of the Jack, the Cuddly Dog, Jack chases his red ball across the USA by plane, train, automobile and balloon making many friends on the way. He explores spatial concepts with a unique soundtrack of American classics.
