Kids enjoyed playing the games and thought it was fun. This games on the interactive DVD seemed to be more appealing than on the CD-Rom, but that may have been due to the kids who reviewed it. Kids sat mesmerized watching each episode. The introduction of characters at the beginning of each episode (where the older kids read the names to the younger ones) helped the younger kids connect names. By the third episode, everyone knew the characters' names and looked for them.
This contains both a DVD and a CD-Rom. Beautiful quality, color of space and model vehicles in rockets - 3D quality. The twelve different five minute episodes explore key emotions from happy to sad, angry, afraid, worried, embarrassed, grumpy, bored, hurt, fond, interested and lonely - all emotions children are learning about in their preschool years. The vignettes do a good job of exemplifying the space models' feelings in each story situation. From Rakesh losing his rocks, accusing his team mates of taking them to finding out the night watchman took them to get them cleaned and polished, he experienced anger, then embarrassment, and was very sorry, then happy to have such good friends to help him to Bernard and Yuri not able to make the team picnic and feeling lonely and Chen came to the rescue videoconferencing them in to join the others which made them very happy. Working out solutions, team spirit and friendship are modeled, and lessons are learned. Children will enjoy the space place theme, the model space vehicles and rockets with friendly faces including the diversity of characters, from French to Indian to Asian to African American to Russian as well as the diversity of jobs from a woman being a mechanic to an older photographer, a rock collector and a techie. Their adventures in five minute blocks teach children to have a better understanding of their emotions and social interaction and they can surely identify with this. The card games, additional games on the DVD including "spot the face", "explore the planets", "find the rocks" and "build a face," will keep them active, engaged, learning and having fun.
