Lots of laugher. The kids liked the music. They were singing along and laughing a lot. They talked back to the characters onscreen, especially when they were telling the wolf he could eat the pig. They wanted the wolf to be a good guy. They liked seeing the kids in the audience and talked about their own experiences with stage plays.
This is hysterical. It is a videotaped presentation of a play but don't let the simple sets dissuade you from realizing what a simple set and a load of imagination can create. The humor is pun-based, something that adults get and kids do, as they get older. The musical theater presentation is easy to follow and offer the perfect mix of talking and singing to keep young ones engaged. The three singers' harmonic tunes coupled with the preposterous twist on the story offer up a silly musical remake of the original fairytale.
Storybook Productions stage play version of "The Three Pigs" brings new twists, laughs, and a Broadway style music to the classic tale. The 3 Pigs are happy living at home until Sweet Pea realizes they were raised to be eaten! It takes some time to convince Petunia Blossom, the blue ribbon hopeful and Calla Lily, who dreams up ways to get more food from the humans, they must leave home to live. They set off to build their dream home in the dump. Sweet Pea's instructions get misconstrued and trouble ensues. When they arrive at the meeting place, Petunia has brought straws and Calla Lilly has brought stickers. The Pigs find clever uses of these materials to defeat the brawn of the, not so frightening, Wolf. This clever production is living proof that the classics will live on no matter how savvy the audience.
