Loved it. All the kids love George. They did not really enjoy the live action segments at the end of each episode. They became restless during those. Many kids watched multiple episodes in one sitting and would have watched more if someone had let them. Why do they like it. "Because George is so funny." They watched with great concentration, asking questions about what they saw, " Was this a possum?" This is a beautiful show that inspires children to explore their world, trust themselves, be kind to one another and laugh. They responded positively to all those ideas.
This is a first rate children's show that features a main character, George, who is young and curious like its viewers. As children watch George, they learn as he learns and they do so by watching a world that is kind and supportive of young people. The part we love most about this series is the fact that so often George is given a task to do because someone older than he is unable to do it. Despite the fact that the task may be challenging, George always sticks with it and succeeds. The respect that the adult characters have for George is inspiring and George's tenacity is awesome. In this regard the show is great for both adults and kids to watch. The only place that it falls short is in terms of its gender bias. There are very very few female characters in this show. Young girls watching this series see a world that does not include them. It is wonderful for all audiences. The activities George gets involved in encourage children to learn about the world without a fear of being perfect. Great production values, albeit 2D. Good colors. The score is exceptional as well. Its jazzy feel blends in well with George's own quirky energy. The sound editing and design are great. There is never a moment when the image and dialogue are not in time with each other. Great educational value. It encourages kids to believe in themselves. Perhaps the greatest aspect of this show is the fact that George cares tremendously about others around him and always wants to help them out. In one episode, he helps a chef with his garden. In another, he helps a possum feel at home. In another , he goes out of his way to create a hat that makes all his friends happy.
