Very moving story and inspiring on many levels - from the dedication it took for the filmmakers to raise the money for the students they planned to sponsor, to getting themselves to Indonesia, to the well told story. It is clear and easy to follow. The camera work is good, not great. Shaky camerawork can be forgiven for the authenticity of the story. It is still captivating, uplifting and motivating to others. What these boys did was indeed life changing, creating a lovely ripple effect - like a drop in the bucket. Bravo for these two teen boys.
The story of two teens from Boulder, Colorado who worked most summers for various community service organizations only to find that they were unable to see the results of their efforts. They felt they had no direct impact and knew they were capable of more than bagging apples and breaking down cardboard boxes for local charities. Though their resources were limited, they wanted to make a difference and demonstrate that you don't have to be Angelina Jolie or bono to make an impact on the lives of others. Thus, they formed their own nonprofit called CEO 4 Teens and in June, 2007, went to Ubud, Indonesia and created three programs with a local college to educate teens. They established a program for micro-loans to help young people start their own business. Their goal was to set up an ongoing program. They selected ten teens to receive full scholarships to a local college. And, from start to finish were able to see the money they raised go directly to those in need.
