Appealed to most of the kids. Boys enjoyed the songs and music, including the hand motions. There's an old saying that talks about how the simple art of storytelling, when done well, can quiet a room of children. This DVD does that. "I like it because it's like you're inviting someone over for a show about imagination." "I liked the 'oh fiddle fiddle.'" "I like the part with the country music." I like the puppets." "I liked everything." "It made me think about a lot of things.." "I liked all the songs."
Great presentation overall - simple, yet it speaks loudly. Nice selection of stories - easy to learn and very suitable for young children. Ms. Huff's presentation makes viewers feel as if they are meeting her personally. She has a wonderful folk appeal, delivering the stories with great enthusiasm and a slight Southern accent. Storytelling, a lost art in many parts of our country, is kept alive by Ms. Huff in this enchanting presentation that clearly appeals to the kids in the audience. Some adults were put off by some of the grammatical errors.
Mary Jo Huff, an award-winning early childhood educator and storyteller devoted to children and the art of storytelling offers a collection of stories of universal appeal. Familiar stories such as "Honey Jar" and "Three Billy Goats", together with some new stories, that young people will enjoy hearing capture the spirit of childhood.
