Very insightful look into the life of Paul Wellstone. Carries a positive message about the common person getting into a position of power in order to achieve good in the world. The narration by students makes this film even more compelling to students.
A documentary about the late teacher and senator from Minnesota, Paul Wellstone. Students from Lake Country Montessori School in Minneapolis participate in the filmmaking, working with artist, Media Mike Hazard and teacher, Malinda Holte. The film explores what lessons we can learn from the life of Senator Paul Wellstone. Speakers include: Mark Anderson (press secretary), Jeff Blodgett (campaign manager), Pam Christian (art car artist), Pakou Hang (community activist), Bill Holm (poet), Rick Kahn (student and best friend), Connie Lewis (staff director), Jim Ramstad (Republican member of House of Representatives) and Paul Scott (the first bus driver). Historian Howard Zinn says, "It is delightful. And a brilliant idea to tell his story through the magic bus, the bus driver, the utterly charming children! It is a good example of how to take a subject that at first glance seems rather dull, and invest it with vitality, humor, inspiration, without sacrificing serious ideas."
