FEN, THE cover image
This addresses nature's fight of good against evil, delivering a positive moral lesson. It starts out very simply and picks up half way through. The characters become stronger and there are twists in the conflict. At the end, the resolution is plausible and the viewer leaves with the impression that they've seen a good film with positive values that isn't pushy. Some families will bristle at the use of the word, "damn," which is really unnecessary. This could be a lovely film, depending on how they execute the visuals. It could be very scary and intense for sensitive little ones. It would be ideal for second grade when they teach morals and fables. We would really need to see the final production to give it a final endorsement.
When Mama squirrel moves her and her two children to the Fen she learns that the forest creatures have drafted a treaty where the wolves will not attack anyone within the Fen, while the rest of the forest is fair game. Scowl, a wolf who does not wish to honor the treaty, devises a plan to take control of the Fen and get rid of the wolf leader, Sarge. Sarge believes in the treaty and wants to see it work. But Scowl feels it is not in the wolfs' interests to have this treaty. During a town hall meeting with the forest creatures, Scowl makes a surprise attack on the Fen with other wolves, and in the clash, Brother squirrel and Sister squirrel, get lost in the forest outside of the Fen. They must make their way through the forest and try to get back to the Fen. Mama Squirrel searches for them along with the town leaders. Sarge becomes a reluctant ally to the forest creatures and tries to stop Scowls plan. But Scowl is able to get rid of Sarge and put his plan into action, with the help of the Hawks. The climax is when the forest creatures must battle the wolves for control of the Fen. Just when things look hopeless for the forest creatures, a surprise ally comes to the aide of the forest creatures.
