Animation and no narrative. Whimsical. Good for interstitial programming. I like how the little guy befriends the curmudgeonly old ape through his tenacity and friendliness.
The film essentially depicts a clash between contrasting characters. Their relationship depicted through pantomime expressions and music in the tradition of silent film. A younger gorilla annoys an older gorilla by "aping" his every move. In the end his empathy for the young gorilla's weakness outweighs his anger and brings him to humility and ultimately friendship with the little ape.
