Pretty intense. I would like to see this in a film festival because I would know that what I was seeing was real.
Shows the reality of life in refugee camps. The ironic part is that we observe this tough world and the people inside it who are filled with laughter even through their tears. It is a harsh wake up call to what is happening in the Middle East, very important and not sensationalized.
Award-winning Palestinian filmmaker Mai Masri's most recent work traces the delicate friendship that evolves between two Palestinian girls: Mona, a resident of the economically marginalized Beirut refugee camp and Manar, an occupant of Bethlehem's Al-Dheisha camp under Isreali control. The two girls begin and continue their relationship through letters until they are finally given the opportunity to meet at the border during the Isreali withdrawal from South Lebanon. When the intifada suddenly erupts around them, both girls face heart-breaking changes in their lives.
