A touching story with sweet, innocent child-like drawings and an Asian narrator. What child doesn't sometimes feel like a misfit? Very accurately captures what it's like to not fit in. Allows kids to feel sympathy for a marginalized group - monsters. The drawings are sketchy, almost crudely drawn. The images are still, not animated but the qualify of the story is so good and charming that it makes up for it.
A lonely monster comes to human world to make friends with humans. He asks Cat, Dog, and Bird how to make friends with humans, but humans scream and run away from the monster. In the end, he learns to embrace himself for trying his best. It's about being courageous and trying very hard to get what one wants: friends.
