14-year-old Watts Davies (Will Rothhaar) knows he's got what it takes to race. A gifted, but unpolished go-kart racer, he wants to win but more than that he wants to have his father's support when he crosses that finish line. The untimely death of his mother has left him at odds with his dad (Randy Quaid) just when Watts needs him the most. With the support of his friends he seeks refuge at the local arcade while fending off the local bully who is doing his best to keep him out of the upcoming IFK (International Karting Federation) Championships. When the current champion, Scott McKenna (David Gallagher) steps into the picture, it galvanizes Watts and his father to rekindle their relationship, letting Watts enjoy the exhilaration of true teamwork with his crew of friends and one special graffiti-loving girl named Dahlia (Amanda de Martinis).
