Very attentive and excited, cheered throughout the film. "Cool!" "Run bear!" Loved seeing live bears and enjoyed the Native American portrayal. "We didn't get the part when John turned into a spirit bear until Mom explained it." "The bear was funny."
Suspenseful, well scripted and well produced. Very solid story with several themes: independence, survival, rescue, environment and wildlife issues, and growing up. Shows people who disagree with each other working together for a common goal.
When eleven-year-old Emily, who has followed her sister on an environmental protest, gets lost deep in the woods, she is reunited with the orphaned bear cub she hand-raised three years before...and their battle for survival begins.
