Who is Nancy Kenney?
Nancy Kenney is the Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Coalition of Quality Children's Media. She is also a venue coordinator and co-curator for the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival. Nancy is a documentary producer and an award-winning composer for film projects. In addition, she is a new urbanist. Nancy obtained her MS in International/Intercultural Development Education in 1980 and studied film composition at Berklee College of Music until 1986. She has experience performing and teaching music at kindergarten through university levels. In 1989, Nancy collaborated with her designer husband, Robert Althouse, as a sustainable land developer. She became a founding partner of a new urbanist community designed by Andres Duany called Aldea de Santa. Nancy's production company, Arthouse Productions, began documenting new urbanist projects and practitioners, and developed an online accredited curriculum for architects, planners, and students called New Urbanist Media. She is a mother of a talented filmmaker, Conci Althouse, and serves on the board of NetWorks Productions, a non-profit that creates and disseminates media to help regenerate the earth. Nancy has been honored with several awards, including the Muse Award for "Best Video Produced by a Museum in the US" for "Edward Weston – A Retrospective", the Best Bay Area Short award in San Francisco, CA for "Keepin' The Faith" by Nina Koocher from Boston, MA and Best Use Of Media award at Santa Fe Film Festival for “Colonia Prisma At Tierra Contenta”
