This movie is pure family fun! Secrets of the Mountain is an adventure that tells the story of a discordant family that does not spend enough time with each other until one day, Paige Turco, who stars as the mother, receives a letter from someone who is interested in buying land she inherited from her deceased uncle in the countryside. She and the kids drive up to the countryside to sell the land and hopefully bring the family back together, but then she finds out that her uncle is still alive! Her uncle informs her and the kids that there is treasure buried in the mountains, so she tries to end the deal. Unfortunately, she already signed the contracts. Will her family be able to find the treasure with only a few days left until the land is sold? Discover the secret for yourself!
While the characters are looking for the treasure, they start bonding with each other and slowly begin to end some past complications. I like how Crawford Wilson, who stars as the older brother, and Adelaide Kane, who stars as the older sister, bond and end their previous conflicts that deal with bullying. When the older sister is about to fall off of the bridge in the mountain, I find it touching how her brother saves her and lends her a hand.
This movie has a clear message that a family can be reunited by spending time with each other, so in my opinion, it is moving how the entire family got back together in the end. However, the film could have been more original with its plot, and some parts are a bit unrealistic, such as how the mother's uncle claimed there is Aztec treasure buried in the mountains. Overall though, this is a lighthearted movie that I think everyone can enjoy--especially if you like adventurous family movies!
