This title opens your eyes up to another culture and weaves a creative entertaining story. It is very imaginative and creative and appeals to a child's sense of adventure. The storyline is very strong. You quickly get a sense of what is happening in the story and immediately sense the conflict. The middle pulls you further into the story and creates more conflicts as you meet more characters. You want success for all the main characters and enjoy watching the emotional changes happening in Ruby. The ending is not what you expect. It is still very satisfying. Good dialogue. Three stars.
Recently orphaned, 7-year-old Ruby must suppress her ability to daydream in a future society strictly ruled by superstitious genetic engineers. Mysteriously drawn to the planet Saardu, she emerges as the chosen conduit for truth and kinship.
